Eating my way through Singapore

Introduction

After 9 days in India, arriving in Singapore was a nice change of pace. It was a relief to be in a place where I didn’t have to worry about drinking the tap water or anything I ate. Whenever I had an urge to eat something I knew I probably shouldn’t in India, I told myself that when I got to Singapore I could eat whatever I wanted.

Singapore doesn’t have an expansive list of cultural attractions, so it was easy to focus most of my energy on eating and soaking up what day to day life is like. The food was delicious – I got to have all of my favorite Singaporean dishes and a lot of my favorite Chinese staples. I spent the rest of the time walking around and exploring with friends.

What immediately struck me about Singapore was how organized and calm it was. The city is really well run and everyone abides by the rules. In the subway station, markings on the floor show you where you should stand to board and where you can expect people to exit. You can find a lot of solace in the organization – anywhere I went, I felt incredibly safe.

I’ve broken down my post into the following sections. Hope you enjoy!
